ROITECH mechanical actuator for non-standard applications
ROITECH Mechanical Drive capabilities are not limited to the production of standard gearboxes and components. Specialists complete drives for the main process equipment, adapt existing solutions and develop individual ones.
More about the direction (expand)
A mechanical drive is a chain of components that transmit motion from the motor to the mechanism: gearboxes, couplings, rims, and other components. It is used in almost any equipment where there is rotation, from mills and conveyors to pumping systems. Today, the ROITECH product portfolio includes:
- industrial, large-sized and special gearboxes, geared motors;
- toothed rings and gear shafts;
- spindles and propeller shafts;
- Additional components and solutions, such as couplings.
Depending on the application, ROITECH Mechanical Drive can produce a single component or form a drive group as part of complex customer projects. The possibilities are not limited to the existing portfolio: the equipment can be adapted to specific operating conditions, and if a ready-made solution is not available, a new model can be developed and manufactured.
Equipment
A ROITECH mechanical drive can be designed from the outset as part of the main process equipment.
As part of a series of conveyor modernization projects, six drive groups with ROITECH equipment were implemented at the iron ore plant.
The equipment was designed and manufactured in full accordance with the specified parameters – taking into account the operating conditions, the characteristics of the transported material and the requirements for the control system.

The order was also supported during the on-site installation phase. For the gearbox weighing around 10 tonnes, ROITECH agreed on an installation option that took into account the capabilities of the lifting equipment: the gearbox was disassembled, moved in parts and assembled on site while maintaining warranty obligations.
For installation, its design also provided adjustment bolts, which made it possible to set the position with the necessary accuracy.
Flexibility in working with production sites allows ROITECH to quickly solve such non-standard tasks.
Adaptation
In the event of replacement of existing drive equipment, ROITECH ensures that the new solution is compatible with the existing infrastructure.
Including when the initial technical data requires clarification.
As part of the order for a gold mining company, ROITECH adapted and manufactured two gearboxes – for the drives of horizontal mills with a capacity of about 7000 and 8000 kW. To do this, it was necessary to further clarify some of the technical parameters: the necessary data was restored based on the results of measurements of the existing equipment.
In the process of implementation, another engineering challenge arose. Instead of the original bush-pin elastic couplings, it was necessary to retain the cam type used on the existing equipment. New drawings were developed and the components were manufactured specifically for these requirements.
The gearboxes have been in operation for more than a year without remarks.
Development
A customer’s order can be the starting point for a new model of equipment.

For example, for a vertical mill with a capacity of around 3300 kW , ROITECH has developed and manufactured for the first time a new design of the planetary helical gearbox.
The experience of subsequent operation made it possible to obtain practical data on the operation of equipment of this class and to carry out its additional modernization, and the experience gained complemented the engineering expertise of the team.
Today, the gearbox has been operating without remarks for more than a year.
The work of the Mechanical Drive direction can begin with different requests: select ready-made equipment, replace or modernize existing equipment, or develop a new model for specific requirements.
ROITECH works with each of these scenarios by combining site capabilities and engineering expertise.
