ROITECH butterfly valves: large diameters for abrasive media
ROITECH manufactured large-sized RT-BFV (TE) butterfly valves with a diameter of 800 to 2400 mm for one of the Russian non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises.
The solution is used in gas and dust and gas transmission systems, where the equipment operates under the influence of abrasive particles, sulfur compounds and ore processing products.
A Purpose-Built Solution for Harsh Environments
The enterprise provides for outdoor placement of valves, so the impact of climatic factors also requires increased reliability of the equipment. Under these conditions, ROITECH implemented a solution that was resistant to aggressive environments and high loads.
To increase reliability and service life, a number of engineering solutions have been implemented in the design of RT-BFV (TE) butterfly valves:
- removal of bearing units outside the housing, eliminating contact with an aggressive environment and the risk of jamming;
- one-piece molded body, which provides tightness, strength and resistance to deformation at large diameters;
- Adapted geometry of the units, which requires high design accuracy and ensures stable operation of the mechanism;
- the use of AISI 321 stainless steel with the addition of titanium, resistant to corrosion and high temperatures, as well as cold-resistant steels for operation at low temperatures.
Project implementation
Within the framework of the order, 26 units of equipment with a diameter of 800 to 2400 mm were produced.
All valves are implemented in outdoor design and with the use of design improvements.

- Longer equipment lifespan
- reducing the risk of unplanned shutdowns associated with jamming or wear of components;
- reduction of costs for repair and replacement of valves;
- the possibility of using non-standard large-sized solutions adapted to technological processes;
- reliable operation of the equipment during outdoor operation without additional protective systems.
